WHO MUST COMPLY WITH U.S. DOT SAFETY REGULATIONS?

You do - if:

You operate/rent a truck (over 10,000 lbs) across State lines.

You operate/rent a bus (designed to transport more than 15 person including the driver) across State lines.

You operate/rent a truck or for-hire bus within one state but as part of a through movement that begins or ends in another State.

You operate/rent a truck to haul hazardous cargoes, either across State lines or wholly within one State. This includes any hazardous substance, whether in bulk or not, or a flammable cryogenic liquid in bulk.

If you can answer "yes" to any of the 4 previously noted statements then minimum financial responsibility (insurance) requirements apply.
